For those of us who don’t meet the challenge of winter diving [whatever our reasoning may be]….or did not have the opportunity to go to warmer climates over the winter…

Welcome Back Dive Season!

This morning I felt warmth in the sun as it shone on my face through the window.  The song of the sparrows outside inspired an excitement within me.   Reluctant at first to believe, I quickly darted to my computer to check for myself.  Yes, the water temperature in the St. Lawrence was back up to 47 degrees.  I breathed in a deep breath, sighing with contentment as I welcomed the return of dive season

A MESSAGE FROM OUR SERVICE DEPARTMENT….

It’s that time of year again.  Many of us are anxiously awaiting the spring/summer dive season, and now is the best time to have your regulators, tanks, bcd's and drysuits inspected and serviced so you aren't scrambling or waiting in to get it done while others are out diving.

To extend the life of your equipment and to minimize the chance of diving accidents, it is critical that your equipment be in top working order for every dive. Whether you own just a mask, snorkel and fins, or a complete set of scuba gear, every diving dollar you invest will be maximized through proper equipment maintenance procedures and annual servicing.

For those of you new to servicing your equipment it’s not important to take your gear in on the anniversary of its purchase. If you take it in early your warranty will not be penalized.  There will only be a problem if you skip it all together.  If you are the original owner, Aqualung, Apeks, and Scubapro among others will cover your annual service parts provided you purchased the equipment from an authorized shop and do not skip the servicing.  Other manufacturers cover equipment from 2-5 years.   Make sure you bring all warranty paperwork with you when you drop off the gear so there’s no question about the status when the gear is being serviced and you don’t receive any bills for parts that should be covered under warranty.

Servicing, like changing the oil on your car, is imperative to maintaining safe, functional equipment that will maximize the enjoyment of the sport.   Kanata Diving Supply offers key support in the subject of equipment selection, repair and maintenance, dealer upgrades, and safety and education. We carry a large selection of spare parts and our certified technicians perform a variety of in-shop repairs. Our visual tank inspection programs and equipment overhaul services will keep you diving safely and comfortably all year round.

News and Events

KDS Web Site

Your new Kanata Diving Supply Web Site has arrived!  We welcome you to come and browse!  Your ideas, suggestions and submissions for the web are welcomed.  You can submit clean diving jokes, diving tips, dive site information, etc., for possible inclusion on the website via: webmaster@kanatadivingsupply.com.

NEW KDS Electronic Mailing System

KDS is going green.  In order to reduce our global footprint, we are moving towards electronic mail as much as we can.  Rather than issuing printed newsletters we will be using this new mail system to send you information such as:  Upcoming Events, Dive Course Schedules, Sales and Specials, Charters and Trips, Newsletters and other related information.  If you have not already done so, please register your e-mail address through the shop.

Attention High School Students!  Discover Scuba School Program…

Each year, through our Discover Scuba School Program, Kanata Diving Supply introduces Scuba diving to over 1500 students from local high schools. A one-hour, in-class session covers how the equipment works, what’s going to happen when the student gets to the pool, career opportunities in diving, what it takes to become certified, and some fun things to do after certification. During this session, we tie in what you’re learning in school to a real-world skill. Chemistry, history, physiology, physics, and a little math, all have applications to diving.

If you would like your High School class to participate in this program, have your teacher call us at the store for more information.

WET WEDNESDAY’S Dive Schedule 2009

Once again, Kanata Diving Supply is running the Wednesday night dive program.  Our thanks to the Instructors and Divemasters for coordinating the program and who help supervise the dives throughout the season.

No Buddy??   No Problem!  We have lots of people you can dive with.
