PADI UNDERWATER PHOTOGRAPHER SPECIALTY

COURSE PREREQUISITES

PADI Open Water Diver certification, Junior Open Water Diver certification or equivalent.

Minimum of 10 years old.

Students may be required to provide Dive Log Book detailing dive experience.

SKILLS

In the Underwater Photographer Specialty Course divers will learn the basics as they apply to taking photos underwater, with a special emphasis on practical techniques.

COURSE LAYOUT

• Photographic principles, composition, film types, strobe and available light photography, and camera-handling techniques.
• Knowledge of the preparation, care and maintenance of photographic equipment.
• Make underwater photographs that are properly composed, focused and exposed.

• Certification counts toward the PADI Master Scuba Diver rating.

Number of Dives: Two.

You complete Knowledge Development on your own, reading the course manual and watching the corresponding section of the video. You briefly review what you studied with your instructor and take a final written exam that make sure you’ve got all the key concepts and ideas down.

PADI Underwater Photographer Specialty Certification card.

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED

Complete SCUBA Including: Fins/Mask/Snorkel; Compressed Gas Cylinder and Valve; Buoyancy Control Device (BCD) with Low Pressure Inflator; Regulator and Alternate Air Source; Submersible Pressure Gauge (Monitoring Device); Depth Gauge (Monitoring Device); Weight System and Weights; Adequate Exposure Protection for Diving Conditions; At least 1 Audible Emergency Surface Signalling Device.

Students are required to have own underwater camera equipment.
