Minimum of 15 years of age.

Minimum of 12 years of age for the PADI Junior Advanced Open Water Diver. For junior divers there is a depth limit of a maximum of 70 ft.

SKILLS

The Advanced Open Water Diver certification expands on the skills learned in Open Water Diver Certification.

You will learn how to navigate using both natural and compass navigation. Become familiar with the procedures used in deep diving. As well as three (3) other adventure dives selected with your instructor.

COURSE LAYOUT

The PADI Advanced Open Water Course consists of one evening of classroom and five experience dives.  The dives are normally conducted over one weekend. These dives will include a Night Dive, a Deep Dive, as well as three adventure dives selected with your instructor.

Adventure Dive Options Include:  Altitude diving (not available), AWARE-fish identification, boat diving, deep diving, diver propulsion vehicle use, drift diving, dry suit diving, multilevel and computer diving, night diving, peak performance buoyancy, search and recovery, underwater nature study, underwater navigation, underwater photography, underwater videography and wreck diving.

Knowledge Development:  The Advanced Open Water Diver course takes you one step closer to Master Scuba Diver – the ultimate non professional certification in recreational diving or another step towards going Pro.  With your PADI Instructor you complete the deep, night and underwater navigation Adventure Dives. These dives boost your confidence as you build foundational skills.

You learn things like how pressure affects your body, how to choose the best gear and what to consider when planning dives.  You complete Knowledge Development on your own, reading each of five sections of the PADI Adventures in Diving Manual and watching the corresponding section of the PADI Diver Video (which also previews skills you’ll learn).  You briefly review what you studied in each section with your instructor and take an exam that makes sure you’ve got all the key concepts and ideas down.
